How does a consultation work?

How is the shape of the future smile chosen?

From the whole person: the proportions of the face and of the body, skin tone, the line of the lips, the position of the midline and how much of the teeth shows in speech and in a smile. Within those limits the shape can be softer or sharper — that is discussed separately.

Can the result be seen in advance?

Yes. Once the smile is designed, the result can be produced digitally and physically — so you can see it and try it in before anything is done to the teeth.

How much are the teeth prepared?

The doctor works to keep preparation as conservative as possible. The amount depends on the starting situation — tooth position, enamel thickness and how much the shape and shade change — and stays at the necessary minimum.

How is the shade chosen?

In daylight, and always next to the skin and the white of the eye. A shade that looks good on a scale can look artificial on a face — so the decision is only ever made in context.

How long does the work take?

Usually three to four weeks — from the first visit to the final bonding. About two of those weeks are the laboratory work: the technician builds the colour, translucency and surface texture of every veneer by hand. The exact timing depends on the complexity of the case and on the laboratory’s workload.

What are the veneers made of?

IPS e.max by Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein — lithium disilicate. It is a glass ceramic: it takes the chewing load and still transmits light the way natural enamel does. That translucency is why the finished work never looks flat.

Why does the per-unit price vary?

The cost is set by the scope and complexity of the work, not by the number of units. A veneer in a flat white shade with minimal individualisation and a piece with a translucent incisal edge, surface texture, depth of colour and controlled light refraction are different amounts of work. Then there is the clinical starting point: the state of the teeth, the bite, the shape and level of the gum, whether it needs correcting, the extent of preparation, the temporaries. That is why the plan and the price are worked out case by case.

How are veneers looked after?

Ordinary hygiene, a professional check-up with your own dentist every six months and care with impact loads. Night protection is discussed separately if there is a habit of clenching.

Are there contraindications?

Yes, as with any dental intervention. Some limitations are temporary and can be resolved with preparatory treatment, others cannot. This is established at an in-person examination.
